These vanilla beans are hand cultivated by a farming cooperative in Madagascar, where curing vanilla is a way of life in many rural villages. As you walk from one vanilla farming village to the next in northeast Madagascar during the harvest, you can smell the unmistakable scent of cured, natural vanilla drying in under the tropical sun.
