Cacao Berry started over 150 years ago when master chocolatier Charles Barry traveled to Africa to seek out a truly extraordinary blend of cocoa beans that would allow him to make chocolate unlike any the world had ever tasted. Over the next several decades, Cacao Barry grew to serve chocolate connoisseurs across Europe and the rest of the world. In 1923, Alexandre Lecarré took the reins for Cacao Barry and continued to push innovation as the company’s central focus. By the latter half of the 20th century, Cacao Berry had developed a number of confectionary breakthroughs, including “baking sticks” and the chocolate croissant. Since merging with Belgian chocolate producer Callebaut to form Barry Callebaut, Barry Cacao has continued to expand its horizons and now operates in 30 countries worldwide.
